TANGKAHAN BUKIT LAWANG ITINERARY
DAY 1

DAY 1
Heading to Bukit Lawang
- Day 1: Heading to Bukit Lawang
- After a relaxing morning and fantastic lunch at Tangkahan Eco Glamping, it’s time to say a sad goodbye to Tangkahan, and head for Bukit Lawang
- The journey takes around 1-2 hours, passing through agricultural areas and small villages
- On arrival at Bukit Lawang, you’ll cross a swing bridge to reach your stunning home for the next 2 nights – Eco Lodge Bukit Lawang
- Enjoy a great dinner here and chat with your guide about the adventures planned for tomorrow
DAY 2

DAY 2
Spotting Orangutan
- 8 am Breakfast at Ecolodge
- After breakfast, we head off to the jungle, passing through rubber plantations for around 15 minutes
- Then, we enter the Gunung Leuser National park
- Here, you will likely see long-tailed macaques. Thomas Leaf monkeys and many other rainforest species.
- We’ll trek for around 90 minutes, searching for and observing Sumatran orangutans in their rainforest habitat.
- When we’re safely away from the primates, it’s time for a fresh-fruit snack and rest break in the jungle.
- Finally, we’ll walk for a further 30 minutes to the last adventure of the day…
- Catching the famous jungle taxi (river tubing) back to the Eco Lodge.
- Relax, explore, the village, eat dinner, and have a well-earned rest

- Wearing long pants and long sleeves are a good idea to protect against insects and plants
- The treks take around 3-4 hours, including rest stops
- We do not support orangutan feeding (or any other wild animal interactions), so please respect and protect the animals by following our guides instructions when viewing wildlife.
- The animals are wild, so we never guarantee that you’ll spot any in particular, but we’ll do our best to show you the amazing flora and fauna living in the rainforest.
