WALKING WITH ELEPHANTS + WASHING + TUBING TO 7 ISLAND
Join our elephant herd for a refreshing morning mandi (bath) in the river. You’ll get to hang out with them in their natural environment and have the opportunity to get hands on as they enjoy the water. After some quality elephant time and some great photos, jump back into the river for a unique tubing experience to the beautiful 7 Island.
ITINERARY
Welcome to Tangkahan
- Arrive in Tangkahan and settle in at our Eco Glamping Retreat
- welcome drink
- Swimming in the Bulu River Waterfall (Optional)
- Dinner at the open-air Glamping restaurant
River Elephant Adventures
- 7:30 Home-cooked breakfast at Tangkahan Eco Glamping
- 8:30 Enjoy an easy 20-minutes scroll through community gardens as we head to meet the elephants at the Batang River.
- 9:00 Join the elephants for a morning wash in the clear jungle river. This will take around 40 minutes.
- After you finish playing with the elephants, you will go straight to the Leuser National Park to walk with the elephants and see them in their natural habitat.
- Here you will be guided by a guide and mahout while walking with the elephants.
- You will spend about 1-2 hours walking with the elephants.
- During the trip you can feed the elephants but only the food provided by the mahout (elephant handler)
- After finishing walking the elephants, you will be served a delicious and fresh lunch at Butterfly Beach.
- After lunch you can relax or explore the Buluh River
- After finishing with the bamboo river time to jump onto our special jungle taxi and float down river
- Tubing for around 40 minutes, until we reach the pretty 7 Islands area.
- After arriving at Island 7, we prepared to board the jeep to go to Tangkahan Eco Glamping.
- However, before arriving at Tangkahan Eco Glamping, we will stop at one of the nearest villages to drink fresh young coconut.
- After finishing in the village, continue by jeep to Tangkah Eco Glamping
- Dinner at Tangkahan Eco Glamping
- After dinner we will continue the spotlight fro about 1 our around our place to see animals that are active at night like fireflies and other wild animals

✍︎ Need to Know
- Elephant activities are not open on Fridays
- Please do not approach or touch the elephants unless the handler gives you permission
- You can choose to bathe one of the elephants with a brush or simply swim in the river and observe
- Please do not feed the elelphants unless instructed to
- There will likely be other guests present at the washing session
- Bring non-slip sandals or similar to protect your feet against hard rocks when walking in the water
